    Job Overview

    Responsible for performing key aspects of the finishing and version testing process for traited line conversions.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct efficacy and equivalency trials for precommercial hybrids containing final traited line conversions.
    • Assist in set-up, packaging, and shipping of seeds for winter testcrossing and seed increase nurseries, summer finishing nurseries, and version testing trials.
    • Perform key activities in TI finishing nurseries such as spraying, gene checking, note taking, pollinating, hand harvesting of selected materials, and shelling. 
    • Assist in summarizing nursery and yield trial data for final version selection.
    • Ensure safety rules are followed at all times.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Leadership.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    • B.S. degree in plant science field (such as Agronomy, Entomology, Botany, and Biology)
    • At least two years of experience in seed research.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn multiple computer software programs for data collection and data retrieval.
    • Ability to organize and oversee multiple projects concurrently to meet deadlines.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
    • Must be able to obtain a pesticide/herbicide applicator license.
     
     
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to work required hours.
    • Some overnight travel required.
    • Ability to perform lifting of 50 pounds in varying ergonomic environments at the station.
    • Must possess a valid driver License.
