The AgReliant Genetics Research organization is implementing a new strategic plan that focuses on People, Process & Products.
We have an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced breeding leader to become the Director of Corn Inbred Line Breeding. In this critical role, the individual will direct and lead a talented team of AgReliant Genetics Inbred Line Breeders. The breeding team is key to our success and must develop the proprietary inbred lines that drive value to the AgReliant corn brands and our parent company owners. This individual and their team will deliver consistent germplasm improvement, break-thru inbred lines, and breeders that grow the role, their teams and themselves.
The Director must possess a passion for plant breeding and have deep knowledge of temperate corn germplasm. Central to this role is championing a culture of people development that grows skills, experience, and ability within your team.
o Lead & direct the AgReliant Genetics inbred line breeders
o Innovate, implement and champion new processes that rapidly & efficiently deliver a robust pipeline
o Develop and implement germplasm Benchmarking strategies to track germplasm improvement
o Instill and grow a robust team focus and pipeline process among the breeders
o Identify and drive strategic opportunities with the parent company research leaders & organizations
o Actively collaborate with other Research directors and parent company research leaders
o Active participation in the Research Leadership team
o Actively promote the AgReliant Genetics Mission, Vision and Values in Breeding and Research organization
o Recruit new breeders and develop existing team for ability to grow into larger roles
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
o Ph.D. in plant breeding & 10 years’ experience leading breeders & breeding programs
o Exceptional temperate corn germplasm knowledge and success in its improvement.
o Exceptional experience/skills in strategy development & implementation
o Excellent communication and influencing skills to win stakeholder support of breeding strategies
o Ability to influence and persuade stakeholder at senior levels in parent companies
o Deep experience and comfort in driving significant organization and process change
o Strong working knowledge in Emerging Breeding Technologies.
o Experience with data analysis and data software tools (Tableau, Spotfire)
o Extensive travel – regional and international
