Responsible for product direction, organization, management and required research activities for soybeans, sorghum, alfalfa, and seed treatments for the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Market Evaluation / Market Needs:
o Evaluate market trends for types of products (traditional, specialty, transgenic) and make recommendations for specific needs by Brand for each type of product.
2. Product Data / Evaluation:
o Assemble information on new and current products to be able to propose the best decision for nominations, filling “holes”, and adding new offerings to meet the needs of our customers
o Works with research group and suppliers to obtain the best products available
o Help plan and attend field days and plot tours as required
o Creates area of adaptation data and develop product placement information; and
o Interacts with research and product development to develop technical information to be used by marketing groups to promote products, traits, technology, etc.
3. Trait, Technology & Genetic Supplier Interaction & Evaluation:
o Evaluates the importance and priority of current traits (traditional, specialty, transgenic)
o Determine needs by market, maturity, brand and access products to meet that demand
o Research and evaluate new and/or potential traits and technology for their fit into the market place and brand lineups
o Determines priorities for new trait introduction and assist in obtaining access by dialog with trait providers
o Organize, evaluate and maintain supplier agreements.
o Responsible to schedule supplier trainings and tours with corporate & brand staff
4. Product Coordination:
o Organizes and coordinates meetings for discussion of new products, production planning, production strategies, variety management (between and within brands).
o Objectives are to create a product lineup that generates maximum profitability by providing lower costs of goods, production and distribution efficiencies, greater market penetration and customer satisfaction.
5. Active participant on the cross-functional Product Management
Duties and responsibilities may be revised as needed by Leadership.
Bachelor of Science in Agronomy or related field desired, Master’s degree preferred; five years experience preferred; excellent communication skills, team player; detail orientated; good computer skills – Excel and Word; knowledge of seed industry required.
Ability to work required hours; ability to lift 25 lbs.; must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR guidelines; some overnight travel required.
